Ximba MuseSig is a simple tool for generating signature files for Mail User Agents (MUA) like Evolution, Mutt or Pine. A single Perl script processes a set of quote directories to install either a randomly chosen or user specified signature into a file used by the MUA for signatures. New quotes can be added at will using one of two formats (one formal and one freeform). Quotes can be chosen at random or by name.

This is the initial release under the BSD License.

MuseSig is an email signature generator. The script takes an ID file (your contact information) and combines it with a quote taken from a local collection of quotes to produce a new signature file. Command line options allow selection of output file, the format to use (one of two types), and various other options. Quote files are plain text and new quotes can be added just by adding a new file to the quote directories.

Musesig now contains over 200 quotes or humorous lines. Not all of them are politically correct, nor necessarily follow everyones way of thinking. I suppose it would be nice to categorize the quotes by political or religous views, but that would be a lot more work than I'm currently willing to put into this project. So for now you'll need to just read the quotes yourself and delete the ones you don't want to use. You can always add your own as a separate quote package.
